Compassionate Connections: family focussed learning resources to support maternity care in maternal, new-born and infant health 2011- 2014

Compassionate Connections is a collaborative project between NHS Education for Scotland and NHS Health Scotland. The project aims to develop educational resources that strengthens the impact of maternity care in mitigating against health and social inequalities and which build on the contribution of staff to improving the health and well-being of women and their families. The resources will focus on delivery of compassionate, person centred care and support the implementation of:

  • the Refreshed Framework for Maternity Care in Scotland
  • Reducing Antenatal Health Inequalities - Outcome Focussed Evidence into Action Guidance
  • Improving Maternal and Infant Nutrition a Framework for Action

The resources will explore the impact of compassionate person centred approaches to care and will build on the contribution staff already make towards improving the health and well-being of women and their families.

The resources will:

  • Be fresh and engaging
  • Build on the skills and knowledge staff currently have
  • Connect staff with new insights, experiences and understanding
