Dental attendance for children

All NHS dental treatment in Scotland is free for all children up to and including the age of 17. Taking a child along to the dental team from a young age helps them to get used to the sights, sounds and smells of a dental practice.

Childsmile coordinators are in post in every Health Board. They will be able to direct parents to NHS dentists in their area, and advise them of the Childsmile Programme.

Visit the Childsmile website to find contact details for your local coordinator.
