NHS Health Scotland has developed a series of e-leaning modules which are accessible to all.

The following may be of particular interest to professionals working in early learning and childcare.  These can count towards the childcare workforces’s continuous professional development and are suited to childminders as they can study from home at a time which suits their needs

Health Behaviour Change level 1 - This e-module will help you to gain knowledge, develop an understanding, motivation and confidence to use health behaviour change techniques to raise and briefly discuss lifestyle issues with parents and/or carers.  This course provides general tools and techniques which can be adapted to be used to enhance conversations regarding the children in your care on subjects such as nutrition, healthy weight, parenting techniques.

Raising the issue of Child Healthy Weight - Overweight and obesity are increasingly common problems in children and young people in Scotland. This module will help you gain an understanding of the issues and suggests appropriate ways for you to approach the subject with parents and carers

Raising the issue of Maternal and Infant Nutrition – This module will help you gain more in-depth knowledge, understanding, motivation and confidence to use health behaviour change techniques to discuss lifestyle issues and support change in maternal and infant nutrition .
