Nappy Sacks

Nappy sacks and plastic bags are handy for disposing of used nappies, but they pose a potential suffocation and choking hazard to babies and young children. Nappy sacks have recently been implicated in causing suffocation and choking of babies less than one year old.

‘Nappy Sack Safety Toolkit’ is a joint campaign between The Royal Society of Prevention of Accidents, Child Accident Prevention Trust and Children in Wales, NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. The Nappy Sack Safety Toolkit includes information for Early Years professionals on everything you need to mount a consistent campaign across your area with minimal impact on local resources.

For more information and to access the toolkit, visit the Royal Society of Prevention of Accidents website . Limited resources are available in Scotland to support the nappy sack campaign by emailing Jennifer on or calling the RoSPA Scotland office on 0131 449 9379.
