Teenage pregnancy - role of the workforce

In addition to the health and voluntary sectors, the education workforce, including the community learning and development workforce, has a significant role to play in both reducing teenage pregnancy and supporting teenage parents. The Scottish Government and Education Scotland have many resources for practitioners to support the Curriculum for Excellence agenda with regards to sexual health and teenage pregnancy:

While there is necessarily focused support on preventing unintended teenage pregnancy, it must be recognised that there is a need to ensure appropriate provision for young women who become pregnant at a young age, and for young fathers, particularly around health, parenting, support to continue education, and to start training and employment.
