The Sustrans Safe Routes to School initiative

Sustrans' School Travel Programme in Scotland is funded by the Scottish Government. Since November 2007, Sustrans Scotland has received more than £8m from the Scottish Government to encourage and enable children to travel to school in ways that benefit their health and the environment.

In addition, the programme delivers an information service to support local communities developing School Travel Plans, provides advice, support and training to a network of school travel coordinators, and works with partners across Scotland to continue to encourage children to travel to school in safe, active and sustainable ways.
